gap between disappearance and finding help

Do they ever say how long it is?

Because they just say the dad's been missing a lot of work. And that Carol Anne's abduction hasn't been reported to the authorities. You can really only get away with vague explanations on these for so long. But when the team of investigators is initially being shown the home, a lot of references like "We don't go in there anymore, we keep it locked now," and just their delivery, and the seemingly blunted attitude of the family makes it feel like a significant amount of time has passed. Yet I can't imagine they would've taken their time in finding help.
