1. I would assume the spirits weren't really aware of Carol Anne until she was fully cognizant and 5 years old tends to be the age they start to go to kindergarten, start learning, start making friends, etc. Just a guess.
2. E. Buzz Miller was the name of a Dan Ackroyd character on "Saturday Night Live."
I didn't know about the "Saturday Night Live" character and assumed "E. Buzz" was a reference to the astronaut Buzz Aldrin, whose full name is Edwin Eugene Aldrin Jr. Perhaps the SNL character was in reference to him but that wouldn't make much sense as someone Dan Ackroyd's age would be born well before Buzz Aldrin became famous as the second man on the moon in 1969.
