I've never seen this film but plan to soon. I heard that there's an uncut and cut version. Has the uncut ever been released in Region 1? If not, is it worth seeking out over the cut version or is the cut version good enough?

I haven't yet seen the full uncut version to compare it to, but the cut version is still a good film in its own right, I think. If you have a multiregion DVD player or any other way of playing region 2 DVDs, however, Optimum Releasing have released a DVD of both the cut and uncut versions in the UK. But if you can't play region 2 DVDs I wouldn't worry about it too much, as the cut version is still a fairly gorgeous (and tragic) film even with the changes in place.

I'm going to get a region 2 player and buy this from UK - too much animation is released in region 2 and not region 1 to keep me from breaking down and getting a region 2 player.
