"1. The Final Cut"

Wow. This I think is the first time I see it at number 1.

I've only heard three all the way through, but I'd list them as follows-

1) The Dark Side of the Moon
2) Animals
3) Wish You Were Here
(but it's a very close call between all three)

Meddle and The Wall get worthy mentions purely for containing the Floyd masterpieces which are Echoes and Comfortably Numb

OK, I'm weird, but Animals is probably my favorite simply for the lyrics. Keep in mind that these are all very close. They all could be interchanged and it is a toss up whether to include Meddle on the list, same with Obscured by Clouds. I do like the Post-Waters albums as well, but to me they lack the same punch as the earlier stuff.

1. Animals
2. Dark Side Of The Moon
3. The Wall
4. Wish You Were Here
5. The Final Cut

BTW, scr*w the latest remasters. If you want to hear these albums in their original form find copies on vinyl. The 30th Anniversary pressing of Dark Side is worth buying a turntable just for this one album.

"The Division Bell" is better than "Piper At the Gates of Dawn"? Really?

My five:

01 - Animals
02 - Piper At the Gates of Dawn
03 - The Final Cut
04 - Wish You Were Here
05 - Obscured By Clouds

Can I throw "The Madcap Laughs" by Syd Barrett and "Music From the Body" by Roger Waters and Ron Geesin into the mix as well? There both great albums and certainly better than several of Floyd's proper records ("A Momentary Lapse of Reason" and "The Wall" for sure)

1). The Wall - no contest, artistically this is easily one of the greatest works in human history.

2). Wish You Were Here - Gorgeous, without being overly weird like much of their stuff; therefore, it's easy to play this album for a non-fan to help them understand how amazing Pink Floyd is.

3). Dark Side of the Moon - Gorgeous, with more weird stuff than WYWH, and readily accepted as a great album just because of 'Money's huge success.

And here it gets tough...

4). The Final Cut - despite being more of a Roger Waters album than a Pink Floyd album, the writing is truly brilliant. The guitar solos throughout the album are some of the best in Pink Floyd's history. They're heartbreaking. I fervently wish that Roger Waters' albums sounded more like The Final Cut than what they turned out as.

5). Animals - worth the price of admission for 'Dogs', which is easily one of the greatest Pink Floyd songs.

Momentary Lapse, Piper, Atom Heart Mother, and Meddle all deserve to be in the top 5 as well...but there's just no more room!

On a side note, if you haven't heard the cover of 'Fearless' by "Ambulance, Ltd." Download it from Amazon or something, it's amazing. I daresay, it's better than Pink Floyd's version (and I love me some Pink Floyd - so I don't say that lightly...)

I agree with the above, but i would love to stick The Final Cut in there somewhere...(Need another thread...top 6, lol), not necessarily in that order. They are all f@$£*ng fantastic...(had to reply, just had a Floyd evening with a few beers, and played all the above) wow :)

Every true PF fan knows that Animals is their best album.

Limit of the Willing Suspension of Disbelief: directly proportional to it's awesomeness.
