I seem to remember a part being cut!

I just saw this movie on Showtime and before that it must have been in the eighties. I know that was a long time ago (about 25 years) but I remember a scene that really cracked me up and the film I just saw had about 10 seconds of it. I think it was cut out???

It's the part (toward the end) when Benson (O'Neal), Kerwin (Hurt), and the Chief (McMillan) are riding in the back seat of a police car. Benson said that he was hungry and Kerwin said he thinks there was some souffle leftover from last night. The scene I remember is a much longer conversation on what dinner to make and how much he (Benson) liked it and Kerwin continues but the Chief (sitting in the middle) is looking at the two of them like their crazy. It was a riot!

Anyone else remember that scene?

I just recently saw the movie myself on Showtime after many long years. I don't remember the long version you're referring to but it's possible you're remembering another conversation from another part of the movie and confusing it with the conversation in the patrol car. But then again you could be right. I watch a lot of movies, preferably uncut and original, and sometimes I can think something is missing when in reality my memory has its wires crossed.

Oh yes that scene was longer when I first saw the movie on a date...The girl I was with made the comment "they sound just like an old married couple"....It seems to me the scene was about 3 mins plus with a lot more double takes from the "chief" as they discussed food, beer, chocolate cake etc...

Well hopefully the missing part is included in the dvd version. I'm going to buy the dvd today to watch the movie. I can't even remember the last time I saw it. I might have seen it at the theatre in '82 but I don't remember!
