I know everyone who is a fan of this film knows about this already, but I'm way behind the times. I saw the film once, when it first came out, and fell in love with it. Years later I looked for it on tape and then on DVD, and found NOTHING. I heard (read) that Coppola was so disgusted about the film that he refused for it to be re-released and refused for it to come out on DVD, etc. Now my friend found it for me (on Amazon, but I'm sure it's elsewhere...). When did this happen, finally?

It came out on DVD early 2004. I bought it when it came out. He started to work on it after he did Apocalypse Now Redux. He reedited the opening and making it more tighter. This film is a masterpiece.

It always was a masterpiece. The new edit doesn't add a whole lot to my way of thinking, but it's still a delight to watch.
