Banal Beginning, but...

It picked up considerately when the "dream lovers" sequence was introduced.
This was NOT a realistic movie. It's a lot more impressive when you realize that the whole film was shot on a soundstage; if you thought it was shot on location then it was easy to miss the artistry involved.
It was great to see Frederic Forrest, and especially Teri Garr, get a chance to shine at least once in their careers.

I liked it. Gave it an 8.

PS Why didn't this win an Oscar for Art Direction?

It's innovative, highly stylised, Teri Garr is smoking hot, it has a sexy, sassy soundtrack but for whatever reason it just doesn't work for me and I can't even say why.

Well, it's a romantic daydream. If you view it in that light, then the film might make more sense to you.

I actually enjoyed this movie. The story was pretty basic and the characters alright, but the cinematography and the sets were wonderful. I sort of had the same feeling watching this that I got watching Sin City. I know Sin City was CGI, but still, had the same kind of feel to me.
