I first saw this movie when it was released back in '82 (whew!), and it has become one of my all-time favorite movies. I understand that a special 25th anniversary edition of the movie was released a while back on DVD, and I was wondering if the new edition includes scenes that were not featured in the original film.
Can anyone out there who has purchased the DVD answer my question?
I have watched the special 25th anniversary edition of this film and to answer your question. No there are no added "deleted scenes" though there are interviews with Richard Gere, Lou Gossett Jr., David Keith, David Caruso & scriptwriter Douglas Day Stewart. Very interesting comments from all of these individuals.
You are welcome and I did not buy the special edition DVD. I checked it out from my public library and watched the interviews. Was a bit dissappointed in the lack of deleted scenes as well. Oh the trivia page states that actor Robert Loggia originally had a bigger role and that his character of Zack Mayo's father had visited his son during officer candidate training. Though the footage is now lost which is too bad as I would have liked to have seen a director's cut edition released!
