... one of the gang members pulls up in his funky car and you can hear a loud, audible passing of wind on the soundtrack. Did anyone else notice this? Did the sound designer put in a chunky fart as some kind of joke?

I didn't notice until I read your post, but it's definitely there, rather prolonged too...

At about 82:00 I think the same (albeit fainter) sound can be heard repeatedly during the final chase.
