Aidan Quinn?

Hi. I just resaw this movie, fabulous~ but, it raised a question... during the dress rehearsal scene, (when King Kaiser is congratulating Alan Swann), over King's left shoulder is an obvious 'random extra' who looks very akin to Aidan Quinn. I cannot find anything about this. Anyone else have any idea?

Help, please?

reply

Well, I'm pretty sure it isn't Aidan Quinn your seeing. The guy looks too old to be Aidan Quin, considering the movie was released in 1982.

bit b4 aiden quinns time i think

I just saw that scene and thought the same thing, though I didn't think of the actor's name like you did. But Aiden Quinn I think was still playing teenagers in 1982, in a film with Darryl Hannah I don't remember the name of. The fellow behind Joseph Balongna in the scene you mention is older than that, not much, and in good shape and looking very much like Quinn. Just not him.

i agree

In memory of Johnny Cash- The Man In Black

reply

The movie with Daryl Hannah is "Reckless". I've always been rather fond of that one.

reply

I just finished watching the movie. You bet, that's Aidan Quinn!

reply

He isn't listed as an extra on the cast list...nor is the movie mentioned in his own imdb sheet.

reply

He appears later, in the scene where King is beaten by the thugs, as a delivery boy. Archie Hahn is credited as "delivery boy"

reply

its too old to be Aiden Quinn, besides which he's the wrong build. He looks more like Anthony Hopkins except that Hopkins was a well known actor by that time so it cant be him either. Weird huh.

reply

I saw that tonight, and I thought that he looked like Aidan Quinn as well. It's not, Aidan Quinn is too tall for this guy to be him, and that actor was WAY too old at the time for it to be him. It wasn't Archie Hahn, either. Archie Hahn is a comedic character actor, one of those guys you've seen a million times in a million movies, always playing an over the top characterization.

"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here, this is the War Room!"

reply

while watching this film for the first time in years I also thought I saw Aiden Quinn in the background (odd, as I was unaware of this thread and he's not an actor I think about much). But he's not the delivery boy. That actor was familiar to me from various other comic bits and advertisements from the 70s, definitely.

reply

Archie Hahn did play the delivery boy. He was also a lead player in a sketch comedy improv group. If I sit here long enough the name will eventually come to me. The memory is always good, it's the retrieval system that fails.

reply

IT is I again. It came to me. The improv group was LA based War Babies.

reply

I've never heard anything about Quinn being an extra in this movie and don't remember seeing himn. Admittedly, it's been a while since I've seen this film. My first memory of ever seeing Aidan Quinn was two years after this film in DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN.

As I said in a similar thread about some people thinking the character in question was Anthony Hopkins -- This character he is too young looking to be Hopkins and too old looking to be Aidan Quinn.

Personally I think it was this guy (Jed Mills) who actually IS listed in the cast credits: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0590039/

reply

yep its, Mills...nice work Exit bear

I love seeing name actors in small roles in the background near the start of their careers. Anyone catch William H. Macy near the beginning of "Somewhere in Time." He actually gets a credit because he delivers a couple of lines in the background with the aged Elise Mackenna approaches Richard. Extras don't get credits in H-wood if they don't have lines.

reply

Extras don't get credits in H-wood if they don't have lines.(?) That depends on who does the credits.

reply

It's Jed Mills. The actor does look like Aidan Quinn, but Aidan would have been way too young when this movie was made

reply

It's him!

The New York Rangers suck. And Sidney Crosby is a cry baby!

reply

It's him!

No, it's not.

As someone pointed out above, it is Jed Mills, who is listed in the film's ending credits.

Oh.That's cool.Jed Mills was in a Man Called Rainbow?Why?

Interesting....in searching for Jed Mills, found this story about how Jed was Bachelor #2 on The Dating Game, when Bachelor #1 (who was chosen) was Rodney Alcala, the serial killer:
