I cannot believe that a film this well beloved, which contains an Oscar nominated performance by O'Toole, has been allowed to go out of print. They are charging ridiculous sums for it on Ebay and Amazon.

This should be re-mastered and released with a copy of the Broadway musical soundtrack, interviews with Mel, Carl, Woody and anyone else who was in Caesar's writer's room at the time. An even bigger wish would be to get an interview with Peter and Mark Linn Baker for the release. They better get on it. Those guys are not getting any younger!

Just saw it on tcm last night. I think it airs on there quite regularly.

Nah, I'd sooner get it through bit torrent than that. The real problem is that this film is so good it deserves to be reissued and packaged like the classic that it is on bluray. I mean, how many films get a 100% SCORE on Rotten Tomatoes?

Totally agree. This needs a full resto and blu ray with all the trimmings. Just a brilliant film that gets funnier after many viewings.

I'm actually a writer and I know the guy who wrote it. He's a psychologist now who deals pretty much exclusively with writers. Fantastic guy.

HA!! And I agree with the OP. So many movies that are so much less deserving have gotten platinum treatment. Why not this one??

Thanks to DVR you may not need to look. I have it on permanent save for the last year and I am watching it now on TCM! Although it would be nice to have the DVD...so keep looking they're out there!

I just checked Amazon, and My Favorite Year was actually re-released a few months back on dvd. The source, however, is the Warner Archive Collection, which could be good or bad depending on your preferences.

I don't need another copy myself as I still have - I think it's the 2002 release of the film on dvd.
