Any teachers show this movie?

I show this movie to my high school classes and many students like it, but for more than a few it's a bit over their heads. Any other teachers out there - how do your students react?

I believe most of Costa-Gavras' movies - Z, State of Siege, The Confession, Special Section, Missing, Amen, Music Box - would be worthy of showing in classrooms. His work is deeply connected with the history of the 20th century.

This world is a comedy to those that think, a tragedy to those that feel.

I show clips from this film and the students really seem to enjoy it and ask lots of questions.

I trust you're objective enough to explain the leftist slant built into the film. School children are impressionable and malleable, and would benefit from even-handed discussion.

reply

I think given the events of 9/11/73 and the aftermath (yes, Sept. 11), the leftist slant you mention was more or less realism.

reply

I'll put that down as a "no", then.

I bet you could get fired in some states after showing a film critical of the USA's complicity in state sanctioned murder.
