I would also like to have this DVD. I saw this movie when I was 13 and I remember liking it very much.

reply

I would also love to see this on DVD! My family had it on VHS and we watched it every time one of us got sick... until we lost our entire 3 thousand cassette strong collection in a forest fire... "Watch Megaforce twice and call me in the morning" is no longer a prescription Dr. Mom can give :'(

We were early adopters of the old Beta cassettes, watched Laser Disk and other VHS replacement formats come and go, so now that we’ve lost all our tape players and DVD looks like it is here to stay we want a DVD only movie collection.

motorcycles with rockets. Spandex suits. I loved this movie when I was a kid. I have'nt seen it since the early 80's. It's like Buck Rogers meets the Solid Gold Dancers with weapons. Some might call it tripe, but I call it a tastey slice of early 80's americana. I will be looking for this DVD. I hope it has cast commentary.

I saw in the 80s too and have been trying to remember the name of it. i had it confused with Delta Force as I knew "force" was in the title, and i thought Chuck norris was the hero. I saw it when i was a kid and I loved it. Only seen it the once. I realise i doubt it has aged very well if no one liked it when it came out, but I would like to see it again. I can clearly remember at the end when he has to get his bike onto the plane as it takes off.

I saw this film in '82 and loved it...but then, I was 8 at the time. I also remember being mesmerized by the flying motorcycle at the end and I was really curious as to why everyone around me was laughing out load at this moving (and clearly high production value) scene.

WoW ive searched for a long time to find this film. I could never remember the title but me and my brother, stuck indoors during a wet holiday in Ireland, loved every minute of it!! although we were 9 and 12 respectively and i havent seen it since! If there is a DVD then its a must have for me!

reply

I would like to see it on DVD as well...we need to get a posting campain to show intrest in this title.

Yeh sign me up as well. I'm from Australia where this film was screened quite a few times (sadly not during the last 15 or so years). I would love to see it again .

i have recently acquired a CED version of Megaforce. for those who are unfamiliar with this format, it predates laserdisc. with this disc i shall create my own dvd of Megaforce complete with *stereo* soundtrack, frame by frame spot removal for crystal image clarity, and a custom animated menu with special features such as stills galleries, filmographies and whatever little else i can get to put in there.
I shall also be creating a picture disc and dvd cover art.

this excites me very much. Ever wanted to see the finale with all the tanks rolling with a rumble track blasting through your speakers?

I bought this on ebay for 99p a few months ago. Brilliant.

Keep your eyes on www.eatmybrains.com, we're doing a special 'Force Night' very soon - movies with Force in the title. Delta Force, Raw Force, Lifeforce amd Megaforce. Yes!

reply

Just got Megaforce on Laserdisc!

quality is insane. slip cover is perfect with no scratches or dents.

a true vintage collectors item from 1984.

I swore that I would go see this movie in the theater back in 1982 when I was 13 years old. I STILL have not seen it and I'm now 36!
I really need this one to be made available on DVD. I would hate to have to pay way too much for an old worn out VHS copy on EBay, but I may have to.

reply

Just brought this on DVD off Ebay for £8.99 :D

reply

likewise! can't believe people are still posting about this film, it's great news! this was my childhood film, haven't seen it in about 15/16years and can't wait for it to arrive in the post.

reply

I remember watching Megaforce all the time when I was young, I even had some of the toys! I have not seen it in years.

reply

I've got two VHS copies I bought on Ebay. I've been waiting for this one to come out on DVD. Since they put The Final Countdown on DVD (even encoded with DTS), you'd think that MegaForce wouldn't be too far behind.

reply

My friend had some of the toys too. I love this flick. Wish they'd put it out on DVD... Even a bare bones version, anything beats having to hunt down some ratty VHS copy.

"Use the Force, Fluke!"

reply

My goodness. I thought I must be the only person on the planet who remembered this movie. It's almost like a figment of my imagination. My brother and I used to rent this when we were kids, and we thought it was so funny but "exciting." I seem to remember some cartoon of a dancing pig or something - does anyone esle remember that? Oh yes, and the ending, where the guy is flying his motorcylce into the plane; priceless.

For the longest time I thought the title was "Omega Force" or something. I finally found it here. I saw the artwork for the poster and could not surpress my laughter. Sweet headband, and pink title. SOOO 80s. I would LOVE to have a DVD of this, and watch it again, along with a STRONG beverage.

So funny, I couldn't remember the name of this movie either and finally found it on an Atari 2600 history site. I couldn't remember the name, but I did remember playing the game on my friend's Atari 2600 back in the day.

This is definitely a must-have DVD.

I just glanced through everyones' postings & share a number of lines as typed --
...tried figuring out what this film was
...remember this film fondly as a kid
...thought the vehicles et all were great
...etc

Kinda like this line from one of the User Comments...
"... Truthfully, I don't think it's nearly as horrible as many make it out to be...but certainly not good either. There's enough vehicle stunts and weapons futurismo to keep 12 year olds very entertained...and I think that may be exactly what Hal Needham intended for this project. ..."
Yeah, I was probably about that old when I saw this. I was thinking that I might like to see it again now before I figured out the name... but now I'm wondering if I might feel quite left down -- or maybe it was this film that fostered a place in my heart for B-films and bad films (so bad its good sort of thing)... maybe if not for this film I wouldn't today be so enamored with the likes of both Evil Deads and Army Of Darkness.

Yeah, if I can get my hands on a copy, I'd watch it :D

It's 2008, where the hell is the DVD?!?!?!

Man, I loved watching this on HBO after school like 3 times a week. I had the matchbox cars. I wish I had joined the Ace Hunter fan club. I love the soundtrack too. I remember holding a tape recorder up to the TV just so I could record the opening credit electronica music. I hope they release the score on CD through one of those private collectors releases.

Now where's the DVD? I think Megaforce is the ONLY film that's never been put on DVD. I've seen MUCH worse! For the love of our childhood PUT THIS FILM ON DVD AND BLURAY!
