Vangelis

Although it's not listed here on the IMDB (least, not where I can see it!) the BBC used the song 'To the Unknown Man', by the amazing Vangelis, during the end credits of this film.

Took me 16 years to find out the name of this film...and, the irony, here in the UK I can't find a copy anywhere! Can someone help?

Hiya, i was in the same boat as you til recently, since childhood i remember the English dubbed version from the BBC and couldn't for the life of me find this film. But I was lucky enough to have somehow managed to still remember the theme song at the end of the film. NOw i have a copy of the original DVD, its in French with English subtitles as an option, and the song at the end is what i remember...its not that Vangelis track tho (i'm a big Vangelis fan)...I have the original track on mp3 now if you want to see if its what you remember...

Howdy! Thanks for the insight. I see Amazon France are selling the special edition so I may just buy that...although I'd love an English-dubbed version. On my life, I could've sworn it was that Vangelis track - certainly not the whole thing but the synth riff was identical. Send me a PM or email me - [email protected].

Cheers dude :)

Apparently the English title is "Time Masters". It seems to be available through Amazon. Just remember to look for "Time Masters".

Yes, but the UK DVD is released under the original title (only the out-of-print, pan-and-scan R1 release uses the 'Time Masters' name). There's no need to import it from France, it's been released domestically in the UK, but the name to search for is 'Les Maîtres du temps'.

It's sub-only (as was the R1 release), which, while certainly not ideal, is at least better than the other way round. It is a disappointingly bare-bonded DVD, but what they have included is as good as it could possibly be (unlike the extra-packed but low quality 'Fantasic Planet', it's a new, progressive transfer and at the full PAL resolution) and I'm too happy that it got relased at all here to be complaining about this, though it does seem that it would have gotten them many more purchasers had they gone to the trouble of seeking down the English dub (even if it had to be taken from VHS recording).

Hi,

I managed to get hold of an EXCELLENT quality version of The Time Masters featuring the full English Dub (Ray Brooks as Jaffar....awesome).

I watched it a couple of weeks ago and loved it all over again.

I reviewed it here...
