Gamma 10 / Angels

One of my favourite things I haven't seen discussed on this message board is the venture on Gamma 10.

I wrote a review and I described the angels as a piece of religious symbolism, but the more I think about it, I think I was wrong and actually like Fantastic Planet wonder if it is actually a play on Socialism.

It possibly could be both due to themes of conformity of thought and look.

Anyone got any views on this?

The angels and the thought monster represent any form of totalitarianism. I'm not sure why socialism gets such a bad press. The fact that certain countries called themselves communist or socialist and then became totalitarian says more about corrupted power than socialism.

I give my respect to those who have earned it; to everyone else, I'm civil.

It's American thing. "Socialism" is a blanket term here used to represent "Anything negative, bad or otherwise disagreeable to the person referencing it at the time".

Are you American?

The reaction is so knee jerk that it's a form of brainwashing really, which in the context of this film is ironic!

A bird sings and the mountain's silence deepens.
