Who was the singer? Was the song called The road to Belgrad? I loved it.

His name is Milan D. Timotić, he was from Yugoslavia. The name of the song is "Svi vi što maštate o sreći" which means "All of you who daydream about happiness". But as you said, he sings about going to some big city, probably to Belgrade, to find happiness.
