Just thoughts....

I am just thinking it would certainly be a different film if Warren Beatty had Sharkey's role,as originally planned.
It still is an unusual,though not completely successful film,which provokes thinking.
The first part is very narratively stylistic,with Vidor's figure giving a mysterious tone to the dialogue.
The second is the political-thriller-violence part.I still get to watch it,once in a while.
