Why R rated?

I never saw it but a friend of mine did and he said it was sweet and light. He was surprised to find out it had an R rating. Anybody know what the rating is for? It DOES seem a little strong for a light romantic movie (he says).

Their female neighbor vacumed in the nude.. Almost full frontal but didn't show boobs. I bet though that the neighbor was wearing a merkin (pubic wig, as she had a raging bush. Ugh!
