Help with film?

I saw The Last Unicorn was i was little i havent seen it for years but need to know if its the same film which terrified me ( LOL - i was only about 3 or 4 )
and its a film ( similar animation to The Last Unicorn - in which a girl is sleeping and recalling events of what happened at a castle and a giant is in the dream and she wakes up screaming???
i thought it was Jack & the Beanstalk ( made in 1974 ) which featured characters like Madame Hecuba etc but its not that as i saw it the other week - still scares the S**T out of me now!
I know my scene description is a bit crap but i know there is a girl ( possibly a princess ) sleeping or maybe under hypnosis and she is talking about something happening at a castle and a huge Giant comes into view and all you see are his eyes in the dark!!!?
Can anybody help???

The film you are describing is not the last unicorn

Hey,
thanks for your suggestion but it was a film i saw when i was very little, and now im in my early thirties LOL, so it cant be the Princess Gwenevere film. Thanks alot for your help though.
Its is so frustrating as i remember it clearly, there is a princess or young girl asleep and she is relaying events at what occured at a castle to a wizard or a magician and she is under hypnosis,as she speaks the events are being seen with her voice-over, then she says something about red eyes, then it cuts to the shape of a giant with red eyes and she wakes up screaming!
It looked just like anime animation and i remember seeing it a number of times as my sister used to rent it from a local video library. I just recall that bit being so frightening, my already overly active imagination went into hyper-drive after watching that.
My sister used to rent my " mystery film " along with the 1974 anime Jack & the Beanstalk film, and The Phantom Tollbooth all the time.

alas i havent got anymore info on the film at all.
i just know that i remember that scene so vividly as it scared the s**t out of me when i was little, it must have been pretty early on as i recall going to see The Black Cauldron at the cinema with a school party and being the only kid who wasnt traumatised by The Horned King raising his army of the dead!??
If i think of anything else i'll be certain to post it, thanks for your help mate, your a star!

Hey,no its not the " BFG " so alas it looks like it will, for the time being, remain a mystery.
The BFG was made in 1989, and i would have been 14, LOL, so i dont think it was that film, but thankyou so much for trying to help me.
If i ever do find out what film it was from , then i will let you know.
thanks again :)

Hey
i have no idea what year the film was from ,or any other info, i can only recall the scene i describe, i actually asked my sister a few nights ago if she could rememeber it but she said that she couldnt.
All i can remember is, a princess or young girl ( with blonde hair ) is asleep and under some form of hypnosis and as she speaks, what she is saying is happening we the viewer can watch, she comes to something about a castle and then a giants face comes into view and it has big red evil eyes, the giant itself is merely a silhouette, at which point she wakes up screaming! I think ( ? ) that she says something about " those eyes " before she wakes up! Ive even considered if it is merely an episode of a cartoon show id seen, like Dungeons & Dragons etc, but , again, i would have been about 8 or 9 and i loved He-Man, She-Ra, Thundercats etc so stuff like that didnt scare me at all.
It could just be one of those old anime cartoon films, like the Jack & the Beanstalk film , but it clearly made an impression on me as i can still remember THAT scene even today.

Well, thanks to another poster on here, i was able to follow a link to watch a snippet of a " Unico " cartoon, and the design of the villain, reminded me of something, but not sure what. The anime Jack and the Beanstalk ive still have on tape, and ive watched so many times that i know it is not that film, although that too scared me s******s when i was little, have you seen it???? Its chilling, im sure plenty of kids went into therapy after watching that!
I looked at my Spirited Away DVD and again, i can see familarities but nothing that makes me go, THATS IT!
Its so frustrating as i can that scene in my head and i can see the girl, princess/whatever ( lol ) speaking with her eyes shut, and then it shows a castle and its dark and a shadow falls upon the castle and it cuts to a big set of eyes and the shape of a giant and then she wakes up screaming!
Im now thinking it may be one of those random films i got from the kids section in my local video section when i was little and i just happened to remember that particular scene so much.

its flight of dragons im almost positive near the middle of the film there is a scene almost exactly as you described it where a sleeping girl whos talking in her sleep is seeing the main group on their quest as they come up against an ogre or a cyclops or triclops or something like that and she is relaying what is happening and when she sees the monster she screams and goes catatonic

reply

OMG!!! It might be that!
I will seek the film out and watch it again to see if it is, but yes, if it is a girl waking up and being hysterical after she see's a vision of an ogre or giant ( with red eyes!??? ) then Flight of Dragons must be it!
Will investigate.
Thankyou so much.
And THANKYOU to everyone who has suggested so many diffrent ideas to me.
Your all stars! :)

Just checked, the ogre does have red eyes in that scene of Flight of Dragons.

Sounds like a match.

That sounds very much like a scene from Flight of Dragons.

It's not exactly right because the details are off a little but the overall imagery and idea is a very close match for a scene from that film.

Unfortunately, it's not available on DVD yet but you can get it still on VHS. It's possible to download it for those so-inclined.

It MUST be the Fantastic Adventures of Unico:

Hey,
thanks for your help, but no, it isnt Unico, very similar animation though, a friend of mine actually suggested " Battle of the Planets " to me tonight at work, but i can hardly remember any of it, and i was under the impression that it was sent in space? Meh, maybe i'll find out one day, but again, thankyou SO much for your help.

Battle of the Planets aka Gatchaman aka Science Ninja Team aka G-Force (pick a name).
There is also Rock 'N Rule but I don't think that is it either since there is no giant or girl screaming.
I would suggest you try this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_animated_feature-length_films
It is all the feature length animated movies ever made from 1917 and on. You should be able to find the one you are looking for if you can look for the right year or around the right year. I'd focus on early 80s, mid to late 70's, but you never know, it could be the 60's.
Good Luck and let us know!

It might be worth asking in the anime forum (in the community section) because they might be more clued up there.
