What if the live action had a happy ending, would you see it?

What if it has the unicorn return to human, comes back to Lir, they rule his kingdom together? Or he goes to the forest thinking he was seeing her as a unicorn but was just another one and she shows up as a human and they live happily ever after.

Either way, who would watch it? I am on the debate side of it.

I'd hope that no-one would spoil the end before I saw it! I guess I've lived with the originals for so long that any other ending would seem wrong (cf. your post about Lir). That said, I do quite like your suggestions - particularly the second, which might make a better "movie" ending. I loved the book of "Stardust". but felt the more upbeat ending Jane Goldman wrote for the film worked much better in the medium than the melancholy one from the book would have. Wonder if she's free for TLU?

No tears please, it's a waste of good suffering.

I would like a live action version with a happy ending. This is one of my favorite animated movies.

I am not against a live action remake of the book. I think they could hit a few of the things the animated film left out, although I doubt a live action remake would be as good as what we already have. That being said I am a stickler about changing things from paper to film, and I would be extremely dissatisfied with the movie if they changed the ending like that. Sure everyone loves a happy ending but I think that would take away from one of the main themes of the movie. The innocence of the unicorn, the tragedy of her being briefly turned into a human, the great sacrifice she made when she left her forest in search of the others would be lost if the ending did not reflect any of that. I think its the ending (and soundtrack of course) that really made this movie great.

If they made a live action remake with a happy ending I might just skip it and sigh in disappointment. Would probably see it eventually I guess.

I thought it had a Happy Ending... sticking with the prince and forgetting who she was would have been a sad ending.

She freed all the other unicorns, the villain died and she will maybe find a unicorn mate ;)
