this is a very good movie

This is a very good movie.

I had never even heard of it until This TV showed it this year. It starts with an amazing country tune, and gets very funny, very quickly. Bette Midler is a fantastic actress and an outrageous singer. Rip Torn is one of the great ones.

Spoilers below........but this movie is so silly it doesn't matter much!

I think some of the negative comments about this are off-base. One person commented that Midler wasn't nearly attractive enough to play the femme fatale that hooks hunky Ken Wahl.

It is the other way around, he has to get even with guy who has him jinxed, and the only way he can do it is to own something of his, so he goes straight to the trailer park and nails his middle-aged trailer trash broad of a girlfriend, played by Midler, and immediately breaks the spell that the man has over her, and she sets in motion a plan to kill him. Remember how his car broke down? That was fake, he was pretending so he could take his shirt off and seduce her. Ken Wahl was the (guy) femme fatale here.

The best thing about this film is a crazy little black cat named Angus, a cat that looks exactly like my cat!
