Team Rebecca on Facebook

There is a Facebook group dedicated to Team Rebecca.

For the past 30 years, wievers have watched Ivanhoe make the same mistake over and over again. This page is for everybody who hopes this year will be different.

They obviously cross their fingers each New Year's Day that this time Ivanhoe will choose the right woman. It relates of course to the Swedish tradition of watching Ivanhoe on TV each New Year, so I think it's mostly Swedes who post and markedly around New Year. Lots and lots of disappointment, it seems that 2013 wasn't Rebecca's year, neither 2014.
There are also links to newspaper articles about the Ivanhoe phenomenon like this.

The writer thinks the end is unsatisfactory and extremely frustrating, "is there something wrong with me or does the story *beep* with me" and gives other movie examples. If you can't read Swedish put it in for example Gooogle Translate.

Here's another article link. It's from the English language online paper The Local, for foreigners residing in Sweden or tourists. It thoroughly explains the Swedish Ivanhoe tradition.

If you're on this site, please read the article explaining the passive-aggressive nature of Swedes, that come into fruition in their angry notes, especially relating to the communal laundry, or "tvättstuga". It's incredibly funny and accurate.

While I respect the lobby that supports Ivanhoe choosing Rebecca over Rowena, I was 10 years old when this film first aired on television in the U.S. and instantly developed a huge adolescent crush on Rowena.

As I have grown older, (and also read the novel more times than I can recall), I came to more fully appreciate the bond that Ivanhoe and Rebecca developed during their adventures together, and can see where there is a strong case for his choosing her over Rowena.

However, given my huge crush for Rowena, and the
fact that it seems Ivanhoe also had a massive adolescent crush on Rowena as well (Rowena, as Cedric's ward, was for all intents and purposes part of Cedric's household), I have always been satisfied with Scott's ending. However, as a huge fan of all of Scott's works that I've read, I must say that I have always been fairly disappointed that he never wrote a sequel to Ivanhoe, ala Alexandre Dumas and the Three Musketeers.

It seems to me there was plenty of fodder for a sequel, once Prince John ascended the throne of England (legitimately), King John's fight to retain Normandy, or even attempted treachery and retribution by the Templars against Ivanhoe after his defeat of Brian de Bois Gilbert.
