Due for DVD release?

Shouldn't this movie be due for DVD release? I have never seen it, only heard of it, and people praise it highly. So, why is it that in these days of rereleases, that there is no due date for a DVD release (preferably remastered)? I wonder.

The idea of FLIGHT OF THE EAGLE on DVD ..? Hell yes!

But ------ I would think if and when it is released on DVD -- after all this time 1982 to now, 2007 ... it will only because people like the director & stars in Sweden are active in getting it released ...

And so, if you are reading this great director, Jan Troell -- or the stars Max Von Sydow, Sverre Anker Ousdal ... PLEASE put pressure on the powers that be. This is a great film.

NOTE: Jan Troell did a follow-up documentary with Max Von Sydow in 1997 entitled 'THEIR FROZEN DREAM' ... (aka, 'A FROZEN DREAM') -- and that too needs DVD release!

ps: There is a great book called 'THE FLIGHT OF THE EAGLE' by PER OLOF SUNDMAN that was used as the template of the film (with many pictures of the actual expedition) -- and it can be found at AMAZON ...

Finally this great film is out on dvd (check with Amazon, not Netflix). Troell's films have taken some time in arriving on dvd - the Swedish dvd publishers are nowhere near Criterion etc when it comes to handling our heritage of older film classics, and abroad everyone's pvershadowed by Ingmar Bergman - but now JT's major movies are becoming available.

No, it's NOT available - it's the DOCUMENTARY on André that's available, a film called A Frosen Dream, also by Troell. The epic film starring Max Von Sydow is something entirely different and, sadly, it hasn't been released anywhere, Sweden included.

Yes, I saw 'A Frosen Dream' .... it's MOST EXCELLENT-!

But I still want 'THE FLIGHT OF THE EAGLE' (aka, 'Ingenjör Andrées Luftfärd' - 1982) on BluRay and then 4k and then ...... and then .... and of course, let's DO go the Criterion Collection way.

It is a film that you never feel like you're watching a 'movie' ... indeed, it's as if you are in those heady moments of triumph & ultimate tragedies.

I hope that SOMEDAY SOON the people, companies and whatnot that are STILL drowning in a tsunami of at-odds legal logjam these 34 years later will get their stuff settled.

A film like this should be seen by the people of this fragile planet. Not only is it a true story, it's a GREAT FILM that I watch at least once a month.
