this movie used to be on HBO all the time in the early 80's. I saw it countless times as a kid and always loved it. It just poped into my head out of nowhere today. Glad to see others love it as well.

Hey, this movie was wonderful. I saw it on HBO a million times when I was a child, and I just loved it. I was 9 when it was released and HBO showed it throughout the 80's. The theme song was great too. I would love to see it again, however when you are young things are much more different and when you see those things again, sometimes they are better and sometimes they are just plain bad. Marc Singer was always cool inthe 80's, and I remember one scene from the movie, where Singer meets Shari Belefonte and he tells her he smells her perfume, and she says it's Chanel #5, and I think she makes him believe that's her name. Great movie, I hope Showtime can play it one Sunday afternoon.

What I always remember about this movie is the scene where Marc and Shari are in bed together. She tells him she’s black. He hesitates, and she’s sure it’ll offend him. But then he says, “Oh my god, I’m color blind as well.”

To me, that is a beautiful moment in cinematic history.

I’m glad that others like this movie as well.

Thank you.

I think this movie is awesome.Marc Singer played the roll of Tom Sullivan really great. This movie is a touching biography.I remember seeing it on HBO back in 1984,I loved it then and still do.Shari Belafonte is a superb actress in this film.I pray that they will bring this movie out on DVD sometime soon.

I am a big Marc Singer fan,I will always remember him as Dar in the 1982 cult classic "The Beastmaster" and as Mike Donovan in the hit 1983 NBC mini series "V" and the 1984 sequel "V: The Final Battle" and "V: The Series".

The only part of the movie that was real was the swimming pool scene and the girl that Tom saved was his own daughter, Blythe. I still have this movie on VHS and will pull it out about once a month or so.

Anyone with a copy of this is lucky, you should mass produce it a sell. I would like a DVD myself. This is a great movie and no matter how many times I saw it I liked it even more. I watched it on HBO many times but regret never making a copy.

Quite a while back,I recall this flick, how enjoyable it is. Marc Singer(also of Beastmaster fame), portrays Tom Sullivan. Sullivan is blind, and has his share of trouble adapting and adjusting to his world of sight. The scariest scene, is when He hears a noise from outside and realizes a baby walked into the swimming pool. He feels helpless and alone, when he has to go in and rescue the child.

Visually Handicapped people have had their struggle, doing day to day activities some would normally take for granted(like walking, bathing,or reading). Professionally trained dogs, and Braille books, offer visually impaired people a chance to bring their world a lot closer in reach.
Singer proves once you set your mind to do a task, it is attainable with will and determinination.

Well said, Zelda. I'm watching Tom Sullivan right now on an old episode of "Designing Women". I just had to look him up. I, too, loved the movie about his life. I especially loved the song he did with Helen Reddy that played at the end of the movie. I haven't seen it for a long time but I sure remember how pretty that song is. I wonder what Mr. Sullivan has been doing lately. I hope he's doing well!

I had recorded this on vhs from HBO back in the early 80's and watch it at least once a year since then as well and was lucky enough to find an official vhs off ebay a year or so ago for cheap. Actually i just watched it on You Tube as well. One of my all time favorite movies, i too have been searching for any signs of a soundtrack and i'm sad to say that there just doesn't seem to be one. I love, love, love the song Just Another Heartbreak by Candi & Randi Brough. In this age when you can find most anything through Google and iTunes etc. i've never been able to.
