Am I thinking of the right movie?

I saw a movie when I was probably about 6 years old and the only scene I remember was a cat walking by a door, getting pulled under the door, mauled, and then thrown back out. Is this that movie? I'm pretty sure it had something to do with the Hunchback. I've been trying to figure this out for like 13 years. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Nope

No. There isn't even a single cat in the whole running time.

It does sound familiar about a cat in a scene. Pierre did get pulled into the Den of Thieves. That may be what this guy is thinking about. But no one was mauled, I beleive.

There is a scene in Batman Returns (1992) where the young Penguin Man pulls a cat and we hear sounds of mauling while his parents pretend it didn't happen and drink a toast during Christmas.

No cats in this version of Hunchback of Notre Dame though.

My guess is that you're thinking of the Val Lewton 1940s film *The Leopard Man.* [Spoiler follows.] In it, a girl is sent on an errand by her mother. On the way home, the girl feels threatened by a snarling, unseen presence. She huirries to her door and demands to be let in. The mother, to teach the kid patience, takes her sweet time. The mother suddenly hears a struggle behind the door, but before she can get it open, blood flows into the house from beneath the door.

Nothing to do with the film under discussion, but if you'd seen it, you wouldn't easily forget it.
