hey hey my my with devo!!!

the dream sequence / unconscious-hallucination where Devo (in booji garb) and Neil jam HEY HEY MY MY is the most incredible event to ever be committed to film. it looks like its shot in some basement rec-room somewhere. fantastic. doesnt it seem like this is the missing David Lynch film, minus-gloom?

You can get an mp3 of Booji Boy doing this song. I have no idea if it's the same recording from the movie, as I have yet to see it. And, as far as I know it wasn't officially released on any Devo albums/compiliations.

Yeah, I'll bet money Lynch saw this about the time it came out. And that jam session is phenomenal, the frenetic abuse of the sustain function combined with rock solid bass and drums works to perfection. If anyone was sober enough to plan that...

It's amazing that this film doesn't show up at all in books about Lynch. I've never heard him mention it in interviews either....WTF?

Lynch not only took the actors (Hopper, Tamblyn, Stockwell), but the owl and the bizarre diner end up in Twin Peaks, and Hopper's "well-dressed man" from Blue Velvet even shows up in a convertible!! The weird atmosphere created with the color palette and models in the film is (now) incredibly Lynchian. The "lack of plot" could also be called "Lynchian" nowadays.

It is clearly the best part in the whole movie. The director's cut we saw didn't give us the whole 10 minutes. Bummer
