I did not get why the ghost were existing together can anyone explain?

yeah that was weird, i guess after 100 years of existing in a house together they sorted their issues out? Mr. whats his face, the samuria did slash the other 2 up pretty good. Maybe he felt better after that.

It is odd that the ghosts were OK with each other, but they had to live vicariously through the new residents of the home. I guess they decided to settle their differences for the cause, though what they had to gain by destroying that family's lives was unclear to me. Maybe the book explained it better.

They was trying to raise themselves socially.

They were trapped inside the house and for some reason re-enacting the double homicide and suicide enabled them to pass on to the after life, probably trapping the souls of their victims in the house...

That what happened in the script. In the script the three ghost re-enacted what happened. After the three were killed, they passed on the the after life. Then what was to happen next is the three dead friends were to rise and be ghost themselfs and be trapped in the house. They took the place of the other three ghost that took them over and have now moved on.
