DVD Cover Rip-Off

The DVD cover of the 1982 film The House Where Evil Dwells, which shares a similar plot to The Gurdge, rips off the DVD cover and tagline of The Grudge:

The original House... VHS cover art is totally different from the DVD (no surprise there), and makes even less sense:

Really, does that say "haunted house" to you?!?

(DVD release dates are from Amazon.com. I don;t know how correct they are.)

How can this 'rip-off' The Grudge when The Grudge was made after, Surely it is The Grudge that ripped this off.

I have the original VHS, and the cover does not make sense (in addition to being a bit of a spoiler). But clearly they were going for a "Grudge" vibe with the DVD release. As for me, I think this film is better, at least than the U.S. "Grudge."

The upcoming blu-ray will have the film's original poster art - you can click here to see the cover and read a press release about it: http://bit.ly/1HpZe8u
