I rather liked it.

You people expect TOO MUCH from a movie made in 1980 for a measly million pounds! Just enjoy it for what it is, stop expecting art from B-movies!

I agree with you. Concidering what it had for a budget and that, I really don´t think that you should expect it to be the next Apocalypse Now or Taxi Driver.
Sure, this movie isn´t perfect, but it´s not THAT bad. I can proudly say, that I enjoyed it. And I have watchet it more then once.

I'd normally agree with you. But I'll make an exception in the case of Inseminoid. It really is one of the most diabolical films ever made - and to think that it was banned in the UK for about 12 years! It was eventually released on VHS around the same time as Horror Hospital, which is a much better, funnier and creepier movie than this cack.

Watching this movie always makes me feel kind of nostalgic really....I watched this secretely at a neighbours house while his mum was at work when I was only 12. We followed it with The Deadly Spawn which scared the life out of me...Inseminoid reminded me of the sets of Space 1999...I seem to remember that they may have borrowed them for the film...

It wasn't banned...it just wasn't re-certificated when the new system came back in and I guess that it just wasn't worth re-releasing it...

It originally came out on video in the UK on BW video (Brent Walker Video). It was an X certificate. As far as I know it was the Cinema X release and is uncut. But it's ages since I watched it. I have the video So will have to watch it to check.

I must admit that I really dig "Inseminoid;" it's a very bleak, harsh, gruesome and downright nasty piece of schlocky sci-fi/horror exploitation junk that definitely delivers the down'n'dirty trash flick goods. I mean, how can you not enjoy a film about a crazed and dangerous killer pregnant woman who's been impregnated by some foul alien fiend? The splendidly sick and perverse story alone makes this honey a winner in my book.

I like this movie too. In fact, I love it. It really is great for a B-movie. There are few British-made movies with this much action and suspense. I really love this movie. And that's why this was the first movie I written an IMDB review for.

Many of the fans of this movie see it as being one of those "so bad it's good" movies. I am a big fan of such movies (usually made in the States) but never saw that connection with this movie myself. I just love it because I think it's great. Period.

Those who think the movie is bad need to watch the following to learn what a bad movie really is:

THE LEGEND OF THE 7 GOLDEN VAMPIRES (1974)
INCENSE OF THE DAMNED (1970)
NOTHING BUT THE NIGHT (1972)
THE FIEND (1972)

And none of the above films are of the "so bad it's good" calibre. They are just bad.

Uh, that means it had roughly the same budget as the first Terminator film done in 1984 for $4 million dollars. Terminator is a classic film that holds up to this day as a fantastic sci-fi epic. For about the same price Inseminoid is a total piece of steaming excrement. Good job.

reply

According to IMDB "Box Office/Business" section on THE TERMINATOR page, THE TERMINATOR was actually made with a budget of $6.4 million, not the $4 million you claim. Secondly, THE TERMINATOR is not by any means a B-movie. The point that the creator of this thread is making is that viewers should not have expect works of art from B-movies such as INSEMINOID. We know that such things can happen, as was the case in THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. But, we should remember that such occurrences are rare. B-movies are intended to be good cheesy fun and that's what I think INSEMINOID represents.

reply

Your point about the budget proves nothing. T1 is *widely* considered a LOW BUDGET FILM. It's status as "NOT a B-FILM" is due to it's quality IN SPITE of its LOW BUDGET, which is an uncommon thing...especially for sci-fi epics made in the 80s. By comparison Inseminoid is a LOW BUDGET FILM that looks every bit as low budget as it is. Overall it's a horrible, horrible film and not in any way in the "so bad it's good" category either. It's clear the director of Inseminoid did not intend for this film to be cheesy or have a sense of humor as it takes itself way too seriously. So, in that sense it's an even greater failure. Terminator is a masterpiece compared to any sci-fi film of any budget. Inseminoid is a smoking turd.

reply

T1 is a decent effort, especially considering its (by Hollywood standards) miniscule budget, and I won't dispute that worse movies have been made for more money, but "a masterpiece compared to *any* sci-fi film of *any* budget"? That's a pretty bold statement.

reply

Inseminoid sucks 2 the core. The Terminator kicks ass.

reply

It was pretty entertaining. I've seen better bad movies, though. It could have used more nudity. I mean, come on... the movie's name is "Inseminoid" and there's only one bizarre nude scene?

Well The Thing was made in 1982 and that's a brilliant film wiv cool SFX. Don't use the year as an excuse as 2 why this film is so *beep* I hav seen plenty of B-movies and they are so much better than this trash. And the rape? C'mon, that's sick. I like very few movies with rape in it. I can no longer watch a movie with rape in it, i've been put off.
This movie is simply terrible.

Yeah I caught this early in the morning on BBC2.. I didn't think it was that bad. Nothing amazing, but it wasn't too terrible either. Piss poor production standards, but they did ok with what they had. I wouldn't buy it, but if it were on again I'd probably find myself watching it.

To be fair, there were a few good shots in the film, mostly near the beginning and at the end (OK, cheapo dry ice and tinted lighting, but it works!).

What sunk it were the script and the acting, and the $0.98 rubber 'alien'.

But there were a few Lovecraftian influences on the film, which I liked. Overall though, a disappointing turd.
