Why did they change the lyrics?

There's one thing that makes it difficult for me to watch this movie - they've ruined one of my favourite songs. It's a Luke The Drifter piece called Too Many Parties Too Many Pals. In the original the prisoner is female, but in the movie it's a man. IMO, the original lyrics were superior. I avoid watching it because I'm always multi-tasking and the song will come on before I've had a chance to change the channel and ruin my whole day! LOL
