This has to be the worst movie ever...

It is definitely the worst sequel ever. Chicks, for some odd reason, seem to like it. The music is awful, the cast is terrible, the music is awful, etc. I can't believe that anyone that had anything to do with the first one would have anything to do with the second one. Anything for a buck, I guess. Didi Conn didn't have a bunch of people knocking down her door at the time. Oh, by the way, Pfeiffer should NOT sing. How did she get Baker Boys after this? I'm done.

reply

Although I wouldn't say it was "the worst ever" . . . I definitely did not think it was anywhere as good as the original =(

reply

Sextette and From Justin To Kelly and The Pirate Movie and A Chorus Line and Xanadu were worse musicals.

Hey I loved the Pirate movie "give me a happy ending...ev-a-rytime..."

Oh man, it took years of therapy to get that #%^& song out of my head, a3168atkins. Now it's cemented above my temporal lobe again.

The Pirate Movie has to be the best movie on the planet.

Worst sequel? Hm ... Either HSM 2 or Santa Claus 2 and the idea of Twitches 2 makes me want to twitch ... -shudder.-

reply

HSM 2?
What is that? I not thinking of what it could be.

As a now 30 year old male, I remember watching this on HBO when I was 10, and thought Michelle Phiffer was the s**t!! Campy is OBVIOUSLY what this film was going for, and the most part, they succeeded. "Godfather" it isn't, but I'll watch this over half the campy movies that have come out the last 10 years.

reply

This film is just hilarious. So bad that it's fantastic.

I think my favourite parts are the 'classic' song Reproduction and the great lyrics 'He wears a pair of goggles like a man from outer space. It really doesn't matter that I haven't seen his face.' from Who's That Guy?

Three worst films ever-

Grease 2
The Swarm
The Monster (AKA I Don't Want to be Born)

reply

i grew-up on this films. (mainly cos we only had half of grease i on tape) this is a true 'classic', yes its campy, yes its chessey, yes its silly, but ist so much fun!

there are some things in life that give such hypnotic pleasure that logic can go screw its self.

CAUTION: if this film doesn't make you smile you may be missing a soul.

This is my opion, I thought that the movie was good but not as good at the 1st one. I was looking at some facts about this movie & they said that Johnny was suppose to be the cousin of Danny from the 1st movie & also the cool rider guy who falls for Michelle in the movie is suppose to be Sandy's cousin as well. But they droped the ideal of Danny's cousin & kept with Sandy's cousin. Adrian was a good actor on Grease 2 & also T.J. . But he is not as good as John was on the 1st one. I have the 1st Grease movie on DVD & I would love to get the 2nd one on DVD as well.

I agree this movie is pretty bad. The story line, the production quality...just terrible. The original Grease kicks this Grease's Ass!

This movie is one of my guilty pleasures! I have to admit the cheese factor is high, but it is fun. From the lyrically profound "Score Tonight" to Michelle Pfeiffer pining for a guy on a bike (those kind of standards are only important when you're about 17, I guess) to DiMucci trying to use patriotism to get Sharon in the sack. In fact in my high school class graduation photo we look like the cast at the very end. I almost think we should have sung "We'll Be Together."

reply

LOL! "Guilty pleasure" hits the nail on the head! It really is such a cheesy, embarassing movie. I cringe while watching...but I still watch! Why??? I just don't know...

Well, this summer is its 25th anniversary, and though I don't actually remember it being out in 1982 like I did several other movies in theaters that year, I do remember hearing alot about it late that year, and afterwards. And this talk was nearly unanimously how bad it was. I then watched it occasionally on a VHS tape we had gotten of it in 1983 during the 1980s, and I never thought it was so bad. Not nearly as good as the first one, but still allright. And this summer I have thought of the comparisons of the two Greases, because they starred John Travolta (original) and Michele Pfiefer (this one), and this summer they appeared together in another musical, Hairspray, which I loved and is a big box office and critical sucess. I think this is the first movie they have ever appeared in together, and that has caused me to wonder if he ever mentioned to her during production how superior his Grease was to hers. But I then thought he maybe didn't have any room to do that, because you have to remember he starred in Battlefield Earth. And hey, that may be the worst movie ever made! It makes Grease 2, and practically any other movie for that matter, look like a true classic.

I am sure he wouldn't be so arrogant as to say that his movie was superior to hers. Just as she would never bring up any of his hideous movies. (although I am sure it was tempting.)

You too can be added to my ignore list. Ask me how today!

reply

Hey, I know he would not, as he, inspite of being a huge star, has never been like that at all. I just put this to make a point that Grease 2 was really not that bad, inspite of what everyone seems to think, and Battlefield Earth was that bad (just like everyone does think!). And I don't want to be on anyone's ignore list, I love getting replies on here, and wish could get more than I do (though I get a pretty good amount). As for John Travolta's other movies, I've only seen Carrie (which I also really liked) and Urban Cowboy and Wild Hogs (which were allright), so I'm not too familiar with how most of his movies were. But which movie did you think was worse, Battlefield Earh or Grease 2?

Dont worry I wont put you on my ignore list.

I saw Wild Hogs too, I wasn't too crazy for it. Beats battleship Earth though.

If I were Travolta, I simply would not have been able to resist at LEAST one Grease related jokr/prank, good natured of course. Maybe rig Cool Rider to play during filming of the Baltmore Crabs scene or something. It just screams golden opportunity to me...tell me I'm not alone here! At this point in her career I can't imagine she would have trouble laughing at her past oopsies just a bit...

When you're 17 a cow can seem dangerous and forbidden...am I alone here?

reply

You are so right. It is possibly the worst film of all time! I should be number 1 on the Bottum 100 list. Songs are the worst part! Everybody who thinks this is better than the origional is carzy!

reply

Hairspray 2007 was worse. It was painful seeing Travolta trying to pass himself off as a woman.

<<Hairspray 2007 was worse. It was painful seeing Travolta trying to pass himself off as a woman.>>

While I agree, Travolta in drag was bad, I actually though the Hairspray musical movie had WAY better and catchier songs than Grease 2. Better singing and choreography, as well. Also, I don't know, Michelle's gotten hotter with age. She looks more sultry now. Yum!

Grease 2 is an acquired taste, but it isn't as bad as many other sequels. Though, IMO, it pales in comparison to the original Grease(which I thought was WAY better than Grease 2). The problem with Grease 2 is that the song placement felt imbalanced. Some felt too cluttered together.

i HATED THIS MOVIE! It's not the same without Olivia-Newton and John Travolta
