Well i remember hearing they were suppose to make a Grease 2 a long time ago, and then a tv series, but since Grease 2 flopped, they decided not too. As much as I love Grease and Grease 2, I hope theres never a third one.

More than that - FOUR Greases and a TV show. Talk about overkill!

Anyway, the reason that Grease 3 didn't happen was because all of the scripts that they were getting were *terrible*; one even tried to kill off Danny. It's a shame though, because both John and Olivia agreed to appear in it.

That's interesting. Grease 2, as such, isn't a bad film, but it lacks a lot of stuff that made the first one.

reply

Maybe it would have been about Danny and Sandy's son/ or daughter.

reply

Yes, back in the early 2000s they were planning on doing a Grease 3 that both John Travolta and Olivia Newton John agreed to do and they wanted Kylie Minogue to be their daughter but then it was scrapped.

yeah, that's a no way they agreed to appear in it...they were superstars

They were thinking about making a Grease 3 back in 2004 and they were going to put it in the Disco era of the 1970's. Yeah right, like that was going to work! They scrapped the Grease 3 disco idea (praise the Lord!), then they just took the Grease 3 screenplay, worked it around some more and it became the basis for High School Musical. That is what I heard.
I do hope they do get around to making Grease 3. Putting it in, say, the mid 1960's would be good.

I don't apologize. I'm sorry, but that's how I am. - Homer Simpson

i hope they never make a grease 3

I think it should have been made into a tv show after " Grease 2 ", with cast members from the first film and this film.

reply

It was transformed eventually into High School Musical.

"What do you want?" "Everything."

"Grease 2" was so heinous it killed the chance of Grease becoming a successful franchise. I think talk of a "Grease 3" started in the '90s when the original "Grease" became popular again.

Paramount had intended to turn Grease into a multi-picture franchise with three sequels planned and a TV series down the road. When Grease 2 flopped at the box office all the plans were scrapped.

In 2008, it was reported that Paramount was planning a new sequel to Grease that would debut straight to DVD. As of 2013, this has not materialized.

The following is well known

Paramount had intended to turn Grease into a multi-picture franchise with three sequels planned and a TV series down the road. When Grease 2 flopped at the box office, all the plans were scrapped.
But what I would love to do is to see these supposed "plans". There must be something somewhere even if it is on the back of a napkin.

There was a mention of a grease 3 I wonder why it never happened.
