Black face?

Does this film count as black face?

As a white man, I have never fully understood the offence caused by black face but go along with it because every black person I have ever spoken to about this subject say they are offended by it. But this is not a film I often hear denigrated as such but, it seems to me that a white British man playing Gandhi is a more than a little insensitive.

Any thoughts any one?
