Rick would've been able to put up more of a fight

I was surprised and actually slightly bothered that Rick wasn't able to put up more of a fight against Jason. I wonder too why Jason decided to try to physically overpower him considering Rick was such a fit guy. Seems he would've taken him out with a weapon instead.

Yeah but rick's eyeball flying out is classic Jason.

Rob in part 4 was the one character I always wished would have put up a better fight against Jason. His character was hunting Jason for christ's sake. And it was personal for him...with Jason killing his sister and all

Rick was a strong guy, you could see it. Maybe 6'3" or so (I am guessing) in the movie. Looks like he could have played football. However, Jason was freakishly strong and had adrenaline and animosity behind all of his strength. Not to mention Lord knows what kind of stuff Jason ate to survive in the woods. Or what animals he fought with. I can see how he built his strength.

That was the point, to make machos look wimpy and Jason very powerful. Machos are the people who teased Jason as a boy, so they wanted to let Jason get revenge on them and I think it was quite effective.
Paul put up a fight and he was macho, but Jason made him look like a weakling, pinning him down so easily.

Jason's supernatural power was far superior to Rick's. How many people do you know can make an eyeball pop out by crushing a skull with his bare hands?

Well, except for:

1) That never being able to die thing. Survived drowning as a boy, machete chops from Part 2, and hanging from Part 3.

2) Super Strength- After hanging from the barn, he literally pulls himself up the rope with one arm, allowing enough slack to free himself from the nuce. Crushing Ricks skull and making his eye pop out.

3) Super shooting- he shot a spear gun from 30 feet and dead eyed Vera like an expert marksmen.

4) Super stealth- he's certainly moving around silently and practically invisible, since nobody ever seems to see him coming.

If you read the novelization of part 2, it explains Jason was able to regenerate cells, thus allowing him to survive drowning and taking an axe to the head multiple times. Jason was already weakening from his drowning and the encounter with Ginny and Chris only made him weaker until Tommy finally killed him in part 4. So technically, Jason was supernatural, but not to the point of immortality. His body just able to heal faster than others.

Rick was a glass cowboy. A badass until **** gets real, then he crumbles like a weakling.

Maybe Jason surprised him? Crept up on him from behind? In combat the strategy of surprise is a formidable (or something). I know it wasn't combat. Jason has been lurking and watching for hours and had sized up his prey. Upon realising that Rick was not going to be an easy target he chose to catch him off guard. Overpower, subdue and then destroy.

I remember when I first watched this I thought Rick was a guy that would put up a good fight against Jason. I figured Chris was safe with him as long as he stayed around her. The guy was one strong dude. But I think it just goes to show you that Jason was that much stronger. Seeing Chris walk outside to check on Rick only to see Rick struggling out of her sight while Jason just simply was holding him goes to show you how strong Jason was. Once Rick died the intensity cranked up even more, then you're wondering how Chris can ever get out of this.

well, i guess this brings up the next obvious question

Who wins in a fight?
Rick v. Prowler Jason (from pt2)

Rob (FC) v. Prowler Jason?

I think Rick still gets killed because Prowler Jason would simply put a surprise pick axe through the back of his head (or hammer, or surprise pitchfork) but Rob would not be overcome by Prowler Jason's strength / downward hand-rake move
