Vera was pretty rude to Shelly right off the bat

I mean when she sees him for the first time shes pretty much like "ummm this ugly dork is my date?" i mean ok if you don't find him attractive but at least try and act as if you're not so disappointed about it to his face. She pretty much laughs and asks if this is actually her date.

Talk about making a guy feel awful, imagine if you got to meet a girl on a blind date and when she sees you she goes "Haha um you're my date?...".

Thats what i love about these high school girls, i get older they stay the same age.

I always liked Vera and felt like she should've been the final girl because she was feisty, but that didn't work out unfortunately. I thought she wasn't nice to him because he's not hot. She seemed like she didn't have a strong filter anyway.
A bit of the old ultraviolence...

she should have been the final girl but i guess these movies are good at keeping you guessing.

I agree. Though later on she did have a right to get angry at him when he kept pulling those stupid pranks.
Green Goblin is great! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1L4ZuaVvaw

I think it was the weird mask. Shelley's whole demeanorwas odd putting and he wore that creepy plastic mask when he first met her

reply

We can't tell if her reaction was to Shelly's looks or the fact he introduced himself with a weird mask on and didn't exactly make a great first impression.

reply

Even when they have a talk later on he screwed up, but she warmed to him. I think of he played it cool she give him a chance.

reply

She openly admits to liking him after he storms off. The two actually develop pretty well together. Sadly their relationship gets a bit cut and skewered.

When she looks at the picture of Shelly with his mother in his wallet, she can tell he's a sweetheart. That's how men who aren't "hot" get girlfriends who become their wives eventually. Happens everyday. A true woman, such as Vera would want a man to treat her right, and not just go for looks. That's the saddest part of this movie to me, the fact that they couldn't make something happen, due to Jason offing them so quickly!

Seems kind of risky to agree to such a long blind date. They were stuck together for the whole weekend, or however long it was that they were planning on staying there for. If things go well, thats cool, but if you don't like the blind date it will quickly turn into a very long and awkward weekend.

Honestly Shelly did it to himself. I know I hate to say it but it's true. I used to have really low self esteem and thoughts would go through my head in the same way that Shelly says them out loud, so trust me I have been there. But once you stop acting down and hating the world because of how "you look" you'll start to realize that it's YOU that i the reason why you can't get a date, and it has nothing to do with your looks. Literally nothing. I'm not fat, but I'm a short guy so that always used to bother me. I found out that if you think it's an issue, other people will think it's an issue. How can you expect someone else to like you for who you are if you don't even like you for who you are. How can you expect someone to respect you if you don't respect yourself. See what i mean? Also, Shelly's obsession with performing incredibly horrible jokes in order to obviously gain attention just reeked of low self esteem and would have been extremely annoying to anyone there. The only type of person that would have less of a chance with a girl than Shelly is the guy that drinks too much and acts a fool. The fault is not entirely on him though...it helps to have a group of friends who respect you and treats as "one of them" as an equal. Unfortunately, you could tell that all the kids didn't respect him...maybe except for Andy, he seemed like a good friend, but he had his own girl to worry about.

Vera seemed like a good girl, in fact they all did, this movie probably had the classiest girls in the franchise as a whole...maybe except Chili. But Shelly didn't play his cards right. It wasn't because he's a "nice guy". Being a nice guy is not the issue, it's never the issue. The issue is when you start putting other people before yourself to the point where you don't respect yourself and that's what Shelly did. This "nice guy" idea that people always talk about has nothing to do with being a nice guy, it has to do with the fact that you come off a pathetic, a wimp and someone that gets walked all over. He valued her more than he valued himself and he didn't even know her.
