Anybody else see this in the theatre in 82'?

..I still have that headache.

From the 3D effects or how bad you thought the film was? I saw it a couple of times and didn't get a headache. Was it being 3D an issue for you? They would have done some 2D showings also.

I love em Nan. Some people don't like the jump scares or suspense; but for me, that is all part of the fun. Of course some are much better than others and even though 'Friday The 13th'-80', started a massive trend of graphic kill slashers, I wouldn't say it was the best.

I'd have loved to have seen this at the cinema back in the slasher heyday! But I was born a few decades too late..! I also live in the UK and I don't think we've ever had drive-in theatres. Sad times...

I just turned 15 in August of '82, and I'm a big guy, so I probably looked older than I was. I saw part 3 with a couple of friends, one of whom was already 17. I'm wondering if the "headache" reference comes from when Jason squeezed the head of one of the counselors, and his eye popped out of his head at the screen? ;-)

I was the same age and had no issues with the glasses/3D. Fun movie to see in the theaters during the brief rebirth of the gimmick.

I wasn't born but since I heard it was 3D and a horror film, I'll bet that was awesome!

I had mixed opinions. The 3D gimmick got old after 15 mins, and gave me eye strain. The glasses for the 3D made everything look unclear.

3D is now very popular with many films IY, although the technology in which the film is projected is a different format to the 35mm of yesteryear. At the time this came out in 82', it was a new 3D technology, with polarized glasses rather than the red and green utilized in the 50's. The polarized was supposed to reduce eye strain. I have never had an issue with either format and don't often hear others complain of eye strain and headaches, even with the new digital 3D. Perhaps you need to try one of the new films to see how that works for you.

Yuppers. And I still remember what movie theater I saw it in. 

I do too, and of all the city cinemas they could play it in, this one was a real flea pit with a small screen. I suppose it was cheaper to install the 3D reflective screen, at a smaller scale. At any rate, it was still fun as an early teen and it was packed, and I had to sit up near the back if the stalls. The effects still worked fine.

I did and it's one of the great memories that I remember. I just turned 12 and I begged my mom to take me on Friday the 13th and she did. I remember going to landover mall in MD. It was a tough mall in a rough area. I remember waiting in line to get in and people were cutting in line in front of us. My mom an old school Italian started yelling and cursing at them I thought we were going to get beat up before we ever got in. We didn't and it was a great time. One of those cherished memories of my mom wh passed several years ago. Another funny thing about that night was that it was 1982 and it seemed like every other person in line had a boom box. They made them check them at the door and gave them a number like a coat check. I have never seen anything that ever again in my life. Looking back on that night is like A total 80's time capsule.

Sorry for your loss.

Why the hell did everyone bring a boombox to the movies?!

I did see the first one at the theaters in 1980. I also saw 4,5 and 6 at the theater too.

I saw 5 and 6 in the theater. I remember being a little disappointed with 6 because they changed the feel of the series. Jason wasn't the same, he didn't stalk and hide in the shadows, he was out in the open and you always saw him coming, and it wasn't scary at all.

I saw a Friday the 13th in a theater in 1988 and the funny thing is I brought home a Friday the 13th Part 3 in 3D poster home that night. I really can't remember which film it was but I know it was 1988. I kept that poster hung up in my room for years.
