SPOILER ENDING WARNING Question

Is this the one where a doctor kills it with his own cancer?

And it doesn't make a damn bit of sense.

Well, in the movie's universe it does. Earlier we are told that the monster has a metabolism rate 50x ours so presumably the cancer metastasized within seconds and proved fatal to the creature. Which bears a striking resemblance to how the aliens were killed in "War of the Worlds" by the common cold -- wholly coincidental to Corman's work, I'm sure. Meh, the ending seemed to be one of the least silly elements of the movie.
