The term "scientiists" applies very, very loosely.


Even given the B-movie nature of the film, it's amazing that any agency would set up this group of *ahem* 'scientists' to conduct their genetic research.
The facility is not even close to exhibiting an experimental or medical environment.

None of them seem to have thoughts of keeping things sterile, or ensuring samples are uncontaminated. And practically from the beginning, in the midst of a contagion/entity loose in the facility, attitudes are relaxed and care-free.
Whatever background or skills the invited space-cop has before arriving, he fits right in with the rest of group.

Would have expected the professionalism of the "Andromeda Strain," but instead have "Idiocracy in Space."
