The Various Boats Used


From the DVD commentary I understand that three boats were used.
One was a rust-ridden original dating from about 1906 which was refloated with oil drums , towed up the river to Iquitos and used for the 'before' scene where Fitz shows Molly what her money has bought.
One was a completely new replica and a third was based on another turn-of-the-century original hull with replica superstructure and upper sections added.

The two 'new' boats were used for the scenes on the river, the Pongo and the mountain.

That leaves the questions

- was the original boat only ever used for that one scene?

- What's happened to them all since (I think one thread mentions that one had been broken up fairly recently) ?

Related questions: with the river boat caught in the rapids, was Herzog and crew on ANOTHER boat in the rapids capturing this? He sure couldn't get these shots FROM the boat.
