Mick Jagger?

Imdb says that the footage of Mick Jagger was destroyed because Hezog never keeps outtakes from his films. I suppose that means that Jagger had some scenes that were cut. Does anyone know the details of this?

At least one scene survived that was included on the DVD with Jagger and Robards ringing a church bell. Maybe a couple of other short fragments. Herzog was half-way through filming or more when Robards got sick and Jagger had to go back on tour so there was a lot more that was swept into the bin.

Netflix's instant stream has a movie about Fitzcarraldo called Burden of Dreams its really good and shows a few scenes of Mick Jagger with Robards. Its hard for me to imagine anyone but Kinski playing the title role but Mick Jagger would have been cool in it.

I recommend reading Herzog's published diaries of the production: 'Conquest of the Useless'...he goes into some detail, and the writing is incredibly poetic (much like his movies).

Robards comes across as a Hollywood prima donna in the book, terrified of the primitive conditions at the Amazon shooting sites. When he fled back to the States with health problems (real, or exaggerated?) and got his lawyers to nullify his contract, Herzog briefly considered moving Jagger into the title role, but Mick felt he wouldn't be able to carry it off.

I get the feeling it was partly out of respect for Jagger that Herzog cut his character completely out of the script when the singer was forced to leave for an already scheduled Rolling Stones tour. He seems to have been a real trooper during what had to have been an arduous production (...to say the least!)
