Due a remake maybe?

With all the films hollywood are recycling these days what about a remake of firefox?

As a kid in teh 80's I always loved this film I just thought teh jet looked so cool. Anyway its dated quite badly now (effects wise) so how about a remake. Maybe the fact that Stealth bombed badly woudl indicate that a renake may be along time off if ever.

But man that plane still looks cool....."lets see what this baby can do", go Clint.

I think this is a very well made movie. Everyone focuses on the plane, the special effects and the music. Remember that this was high-tech for the time and the cold war was in full bloom. So, the first 3/4 of the movie is GREAT cloak-and-dagger espionage entertainment. With that in mind, a remake would likely be an insult due to the modern requirements of big-budget, big-actor, Bruckheimer/Bay/Scott thin plot-all glitz movies. If it was decided that a remake was in the works, I would sincerely hope they would cast a well-known, well-respected but aged actor and somewhat minimize the CGI. I do not want to see a blend of The Waterboy & Stealth. cougar5498's idea is pretty good. Remaster the dark meat of the movie, then go in and doctor up the flight scences, but don't fully replace it.

DON'T EVEN GO THERE WITH SUCH AN IDEA!!!! THE ORIGINAL IS JUST FINE THE WAY IT IS!!!!

would be interesting to see the plane again, even if it was just an extra in a movie (rather than a B52 wich they always seam to use) as though they look better than FireFox lol

i once did an "Airwolf versus FireFox" faked combat video edit
its on youtube :)

never just watch George Lucas and the original trilogy special edition, can you imagine fake russian soldiers walking all with the same face and cgi firefox fighting in space.

Yeah, and get Sam Jackson to play Gant to show how un-racist Americans are. Sam could easily pass as a Russian national!

A remake would be utter cr*p.

No matter how 'cool' they could make the Firefox and the amount of special effects they would throw at it -they still wouldn't have the quality of actors as in the first.

No Clint, no Freddie Jones, no Warren Clarke (RIP this week), no Nigel Hawthorne plus none of the other 'old school' European actors who played the Russian military and sinister KGB agents in a really solid back-up cast. You had Kenneth Colley (who played an Imperial Officer in Empire Strikes Back/Return of the Jedi), Ronald Lacey (Gestapo Nazi henchman from Raiders of the Lost Ark), Wolf Kahler (also in Raiders). Hey even 'Cliff' from Cheers was in Firefox!

Cold War movies were best done during the actual era.
