Lewis Collins = Thunderbirds Puppet ?

Collins is so good in this film. Just watching this I was asking what others asked, why didn't Collins hit bigger stardom. At the scene where Judy Davis tells him to sleep on the couch, you have a closeup of Collins and the Thunderbirds comparison strikes me. He appears "sculpted", including polyester looking hair. I think that may have been his problem.

It's a good thing this movie wasn't a Gerry Anderson production. Although Sylvia Anderson substituting for Judy Davis would have been interesting.

I thought Lewis Collins was great. He had a brilliant repartee with Judge John Whatsit in The Professionals, a definitive example of excellent casting. He was fine in this film, although he wasn't asked to do much as an actor. And he was brilliant with Michael Caine in the Jack The Ripper.

I really wish he'd done more, bless him and RIP.

Um, okay.....

Personally, I though he was a pretty wooden actor whose best feature was his scowl, and his build. For me, the Professionals succeeded due to Gordon Jackson and Martin Shaw.

Fortunately, Ah keep mah feathers numbered for just such an emergency!

Ignoring the daft "um, okay" thing, I watched The Professionals a lot, both then and in recent repeats and found the opposite. Lewis Collins was easily the charismatic and more rounded character whereas the other two were often just stern or bad-tempered.

Each to their own. Still sorry to hear of his death.
