Anyone Notice the Timing of Mr. Hand's class was off?

I haven't seen the movie in a while but I remember the one scene where they are in class and Mr Hand goes, "Where's Mr. Spicoli?" One kid says, "I saw him by the vending machines just before class." Mr. Hand says, "OK, bring him in." The kid gets Spicoli and they come back to class and Spicoli says, "There's no birthday party for me here!" and then the bell rings.

It's odd that Mr Hand waited until there was about 5 mins left in class before asking, "Where's Mr. Spicoli?" That scene seemed like it should've taken place right at the BEGINNING of class, not the end of it lol

reply

Well, the kid could have taken 40 minutes to find Spicoli and convince him of the party, or perhaps Mr. Hand realized only at the end of the class that he did see Spicoli earlier and he should have been in class.

reply

Yea its a plot hole

reply

It's not a plot hole.

reply

Its a plot hole until proven otherwise

reply

you're crazy

reply

When I call out a plot hole, its up to the reader to provide the evidence to discredit my claim. I then send it to a 3rd party and a decision is made. Plot holes are a very serious matter

reply

lol i know you're joking but it's not a plot hole because it doesn't affect the plot of the movie.

reply

Sometimes I develop a nasty habit of labeling everything a plot hole

reply

Maybe you better work on that little problem.

reply

I may have keyboard Tourettes Syndrome. Instead of vocalizing words, I tend to type them over and over. In this case, its the term plot hole

reply

Definitely not a plot hole as already confirmed.
Hand was preoccupied giving out the exams and reviewing them, so he simply didn't notice Spicoli until he happened to look at his desk.

reply

Mr. Hand was not that dumb. Spicoli drove him nuts. He would've noticed him not in class. Not a good explanation. Doesn't fit with Hand's character.

reply

That's exactly what happened:

reply

Took him the whole class to find Spicoli? Or Mr Hand waited until 3 mins left in class to send someone looking for Spicoli? Maybe Mr. Hand got a contact high from just being in all the students' presence.

reply

Yes, I have noticed that. Completely nonsensical.

I've given a moments reflection on how such a scene could have happened, as in, "what were they thinking?" But as much as I've tried to reason it as an editing blunder, I've never really been able to come up with anything substantial.

reply

There were other nonsensical things regarding Mr Hands class. It was the first class in the morning, yet Spicolli was able to get a pizza delivered when pizzerias don't open for breakfast

reply

That is a good point. One such believable plausible explanation would be that Spicoli or someone in their group of friends knows someone who owns a pizzeria so they can make pizza whenever they want.

He's really making a cinematic universe for us the njoy
