Why were they chosen to go to Paris?

I know...if they weren't there wouldn't be a movie. But thinking about it, the 4 girls are on probation and being punished at Eastland for stealing the school van. Why were they chosen to go to the school in Paris out of all the Eastland girls? Something that's never explained. If it was money, Blair, Natalie and Tootie's families could afford it...but not Jo's. Jo's mother was working extra shifts as a waitress just to keep Jo in Eastland. Guess we just have to chalk it up to TV's "poetic license" (for lack of a better expression).

Please do not attack me for my opinions...we're all entitled to them.

they were done with their probation for stealing the school van at this time. If anything, they were back on probation for the paint fight and that was really just a ploy by Mrs. garrett to keep them together. Jo could have gotten "a scholarship" or some sort of financial aid. It is in fact poetic license and back in 1982 when this aired, none of us cared how they got there--they were there!

Blairs family Foundation (remember) was now paying for Jo---so yes Jo had more than enough money to go wherever the others were. The idea was that bc they went to Eastland they could all go to Paris. Although we never asked why other girls weren't going along too. Funny that huh?? I bet the other classmates were mad they were left behind.
