Executioner's Song coming to DVD August 14

I got an e mail from Video ETA that The Executioner's Song will be released August 14 2007. I don't know if it will be the full NBC version or not, maybe somebody could give more information here.

I just checked you can now pre-order it at amazon. I hope it's the long version.

Amazon.com has the DVD run time at 157 minutes, so it sounds like the long version. I'm ordering this today. I love this movie.

There are 3 versions of this movie: (1) 136 mins. European theatrical version (with nudity); (2) 157 mins. TV movie version; and (3) 185 mins. TV mini series version. (All lengths in NTSC, PAL would be about 4% shorter.)

The 185 mins. version is being shown these days on HDMovie in 2 parts (just like the original mini series). The 157 mins. version has largely been edited for pacing. It is very difficult to find a good (i.e., non ex-rental) copy of the 185 mins. version on VHS anymore for a reasonable price. Hence, if you want this full version, just tape it from HDMovie.

The BBC showed (back in the day) a multi-part long version (not the European movie 97m version) but *with* the nudity. It was quite surprising as US TV movies never showed anything LOL! This version is probably closest to definitive, I'd say.
