Still Looking for a song

Ok, I don't know which film version I am used to, but in the one I know, near the very end, there was a song (likely country) that had lyrics like "we don't even know" something, something. It's either on the way to the execution, but more likely when the body is being driven away. It is not Defying Gravity, nor is it Una Paloma Blanca. Any ideas?

"Life is a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving to death."

Yes, in some versions, it is Defying Gravity AKA The Executioner's song, written by Jesse Winchester but sung by Waylon Jennings in the film. The lyric you remember is:

We don't even know where we are
They tell me we're circling a star
Well, I'll take their word, for I don't know
I'm dIzzy so maybe it's so

Full Lyrics:

I live on a big round ball
I never do dream I may fall
And even one day if I do
Well, I'll jump off and smile back at you.

I don't even know where we are
They tell you we're circling a star
Well, I'll take their word, I don't know
But I'm dizzy so it may be so.

I'm riding a big round ball
I never do dream I may fall
And even the high must lay low
But when I do fall I'll be glad to go
Yeah, when I do fall I'll be glad to go.

The choruses are hummed or played on the guitar.

This is Jesse Winchester's typical rendition of the song although Waylon Jennings sang it in the film, and several other aertists have had bigger hits with it than he ever did:

Jonny Cash recorded it, as did Emmylou Harris and about a dozen others. It's wry meditation on one's smallness in a vast universe right as one is about to die from hanging.

HOWEVER: here are the names of the Waylon Jennings songs used and in my bootleg version of the film given to me by some collector who later died, a Walyong jennings song plays in the Van that is NOT Defying gravity.. I just checked. Here are the titles I caught at the end credits:

Talk Good Boogie
Get it on again
So Good Woman
This Time

And there are more songs not credited. Do any of those fir the bill for you??? I listened to it again and again and all I could get was Waylon singing:

I been down too many roads too many times... (then they turn off the car and interupt the song)
.....(something) I done git my body down. I don't know if I can get it up again.
then again, too many hands have tossed me around too many times
The the rest is all "Doo doot doos" to the tune.

Does THAT help?
