What is the story behind TED 1981 getting into Cannes? I have never heard that before. That sounds like an unlikey situation. I love TED 1981 but Cannes?

I just watched the documentary One by One We Will take You: The Untold Saga of the Evil Dead. It wasn't entered at the festival, it was shown at some filmmakers/distributors get-together in the town around the same time.

It had to do with connections the filmmakers, producers, and Cannes. It didn't screen in competition, but it did play at the festival.
