A couple of questions
Why did the daughter sleep with Amiro D Amatto [Mickey Rourke] I did not understand this point and I also felt could she had been in on it.
Also I did not get why she did not feel he would not leave her after her court scene.
I didn't get the point of that part with the lawyer either. Maybe she knew he was to be called as a witness and tried to influence him on her husband's behalf. She looked kind of annoyed when the lawyer presented his testimony (detrimental to her husband). I don't believe she was in league with Pesci's character, since she didn't have anything to gain by making the deal. She certainly didn't need the money. Even if she did say that she'll give away the island, that does not mean that it will be necessarily to him. Of course, this is all conjecture, since this film does not rely too heavily on logic.
I'm not adverse to a little voodoo and assorted mystical mumbo-jumbo, but I rather prefer it to play a meaningful part in the story, not to be thrown in just for the kicks of it.
