Most brutal murder ever committed to film?

I don't think I've ever seen a murder as elaborate or as intensely brutal as what Hackman's character gets in any other film. Even for me it was a bit difficult to watch.

It's incredibly violent. Someone at the MPAA must have been asleep for this to get an R.

This was originally rated X when it was first released, if I remember correctly.

I haven't seen this movie - Why is this scene so brutal?

reply

Let me put it this way, I felt Tatantino's "with apair of pliers and a blowtorch" line was a direct reference to this scene.

reply

The line "…a pair of pliers and a blowtorch…" was from Charley Varrick (1973) directed by Don Siegel. It`s more likely that Tarantino saw that and less likely he saw Eureka which was never in wide release.

I'd wager he's seen both, along with damn near every other film ever made.

It’s definitley one of them imo. Some others would be Josh’s death in Hostel, and the girl that gets killed on film in 8mm.

The strangulation in Frenzy is pretty gnarly to sit through.
