WANTED - BETTER ADAPTION
I have often thought this movie could have been better if it had a decent screenplay. The one chosen followed the book too closely and, as a regretful result, floundered.
I never read the book, but the story seemed to get really sluggish in the middle of the film and ambiguous endings went out with the seventies. (5 out of 10)

"Ambiguous endings went out with the seventies," eh? Perhaps what that poster meant to convey is that his generation of viewers has no taste for subtlety, and needs every narrative detail stated blatantly to be understood.
As for getting a new adaptation, how likely is it that an obscure novel would be filmed twice, since the first screen version remains so unknown after 30 years?
Most great films deserve a more appreciative audience than they get.
